الملخص EN

Twenty different bacterial isolates obtained from tomato foliar lesions collected from different growing areas in Jordan were biochemically and pathologically tested.

Eighty five of the tested isolates reacted similar to the bacterial reference strain JVodomona* syringae pv.

tomato (Okabe) Young et.

al, the causal agent of bacterial speck; while the rest (15%) reacted similar to the bacterial reference culture of Pseudomonas syringac pv.

syringac van Hall.

The results indicated that the bacterial speak disease was the most common bacterial leaf spot of lomato in Jordan.

Artificial inoculation of 17 different tomato cultivars revealed that (he following cultivars were susceptible to the disease Hybrid 898.

Misara, Pomodora, Rocco, and Santacnize.

However the following 12 cultivars: Acora, Allegro hybrid, CAL-ACE, Castlerock lipup, Flash hybrid, Imperial select, Maramand, Orient, Pakmore.

Sonar hybrid, UC-97-3, and Vegas hybrid, proved lo be less susceptibl to the disease.
