الملخص الإنجليزي

This study aims at investigating the effectiveness of using online chat-rooms to develop the level of conversation of EFL learners.

It also examines the advantages of using online chat-rooms in improving EFL students' conversations at secondary private schools on a sample of 20 male students from al-Ridwan Secondary Private School , Amman/Jordan.

In particular, it examines the extent to which the linguistic structure and fluency of the learners are affected by the environment in which learners are engaged in.

Linguistic data were obtained through a freestyle interview.

The data were taken into consideration from different perspectives and analyzed at multiple levels.

Findings from the psycholinguistic analysis have been attributed to either L1 transference or retrieval difficulties resulted from language disuse.

Results from this study conducted on the data reveal a very strong interaction between the motivation of learning and the environment in which learners are learning in.
