الملخص الإنجليزي

This study aimed to investigate the extent of enhancing and applying metacognition strategy by English language teachers in al-Qaser directorate of education from their perspectives.

The sample of study consisted of (116), (41) male and (75) female teachers of the population of the study.

A questionnaire was used to investigate the extent of enhancing and applying metacognition strategy.

The results indicated that the total extent of enhancing for all items was medium; mean (2.9682) and standard deviation (.82731).

On the other hand, the total extent of applying for all items was medium; mean (2.845) and standard deviation (.99789).

There are no statistically significant differences on the extent of English language teachers for enhancing and applying metacognition strategy due to gender.

There are statistically significant differences on the extent of English language teachers for enhancing and applying metacognition strategy due to years of experience, for the benefit of experienced (more than 10 years).

There are statistically significant differences in the extent of English language teachers for enhancing and applying metacognition strategy due to qualification, for the benefit of graduate studies.

There is strong and positive correlation between the extent of enhancing metacognition and the extent of applying metacognition strategy, it reaches (.929).

In light of the results of the study, some recommendations were proposed as further researches need to be done and conducted on the effect of metacognition strategy on student's academic performance and its role for achievement the meaningful and creative learning.
