الملخص الإنجليزي

Today in many organizations in the public sector, the use of Information Technology (IT) has become crucial in sustaining and extending the organizations’ strategies and objectives.

This pervasive use of technology has caused a critical dependency on IT, which in this environment involves a complex mix of political, organisational, technical and cultural concerns that call for a specific focus on effective IT governance.

Critical Success Factors (CSFs) for effective IT Governance must be determined if an organisation wishes to increase the contribution of IT towards achieving its objectives.

Little researches have been carried out on IT governance effectiveness and the necessary success factors, but not with a focus on organisations from a developing country such as Jordan, which on one hand characterised by IT resources, knowledge and culture constraints as well as by an increasing level of IT investment and applications.

This dissertation analysed how IT governance practices are implemented in Jordanian Public Sector Organisations (JoPSOs) and benchmark their levels of maturity.

Also, this dissertation obtain the correlated relation between the identified CSFs and IT governance performance JoPSOs.

JoPSOs have a good IT governance practices, especially in terms of processes and practices.

This was also pointed out by the repeatable stage level of IT governance maturity in JoPSOs.

So, Jordan now move forward implementing and maintaining high level of public governmental developments.

The researcher find that the CSFs have a significant effect on IT governance performance in JoPSOs.

This could lead to many benefits and successful public organizations development, and it could encourage the researchers to build more effective framework depending on these CSFs, focus areas, roles, IT resources and environment
