The adsorption of phenol from aqueous solution onto natural zeolite was studied using a fixed bed column.

Experiments were carried out to study the effect of influent concentration, flow rate, bed depth and temperature on the performance of the fixed bed.

The equilibrium data fitted with theoretical models.

A batch adsorber model has been used to determine the external mass transfer coefficient and diffusion coefficient for the phenol system.

A mathematical model was formulated to describe the mass transfer kinetics in the fixed bed adsorption column.

The results show that the mathematical model which includes external mass transfer and surface diffusion using nonlinear isotherm, provides a good description of the adsorption process for phenol onto fixed bedof natural zeolite.
