الملخص الإنجليزي

Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) are envisioned to be used as the basic building blocks in future of electronics due to their excellent electronic properties such as; high mobility, compatibility with high-k dielectrics and small diameters resulting in advantageous of electrostatics.

In this work, a design and evaluation of Nanomaterial-based Architecture called FPCNA (Field Programmable Carbon Nanotube Array) is proposed.

New Nano material-based circuit building blocks are developed and characterized including a look up table created entirely from continuous CNT ribbons.

The study of carbon nanotube characteristic and its different types is presented.

A single wall carbon Nano-tube and Multi wall carbon Nano-tube are examined and compared.

The carbon Nanotube applications are tested for a transistor construction design (CNTFET), on which CNTFET is presented with its different types.

Nano diode, Nano switch, Nano gate, Nano RAM, Nano flip flop was examined on the basic of CNTFET.

Their characteristics were plotted using computer simulation program to compare them with the ordinary types.

The results showed a lower current in Nano ampere.

When it is compared with the ordinary types which shows lower power consumption and a smaller size is obtained.

A comparison among CNTFET, MOSFET, Nano CMOS, with aid of MATLAB gives a result that a superiority of the CNTFET and access time reduction than others and CNTFET is the best device for future in the VLSI.

Tina-Ti program is used in this work to design the Nano AND gate which can be considered the main key to build the Nano LUT design.

LUT can be defined as the basic unit for Basic Logic Element (BLE) which is the smaller current unit for Field Programmable Carbon Nano Array (FPCNA).

The simulation results using MATLAB demonstrate that FPCNA utilizes SWCNT bundles for fully buffer (global) interconnect and can provides 18% improvement in the dynamic power and 19% delay over standard copper interconnects.

Further, for equal delay of fully buffer circuit, the CNT intermediate interconnects have 19.30% less dynamic power dissipation than copper intermediate interconnects.

FPCNA offers 5.07 footprint reduction and 2.75 performances gain for 16 ribbons compared with the baseline FPGA in the same technology node.
