الملخص الإنجليزي

With the power system deregulation and the introduction of competition in the electricity supply industry, it has become important to be able to determine which generators are supplying particular load, how much use each generator is making of the transmission system, and how much each generator is contributing to the system losses.

Power flow tracing has been receiving more attention in recent years due to the situation of deregulation, make it more important to calculate the contributions of individual generators and loads to line flows and the real power transfers between individual generators and loads, the results can help to allocate the total cost of transmission among all the users in an equitable way.

This work presents different methodologies based on graph theory and principles for tracing the power output of each generator, on an individual basis, throughout the electrical power network.

The tracking algorithms are based on power flows as given by a load flow solution of the power network.

Three methods are presented and programmed for determining the contribution of generators to line flows, loads, and line losses of the transmission system, these are; (the proportionality sharing principle, the downstream, and the upstream methods).

The built MATLAB packages were verified first via comparison of results obtained with those reported in the literature of standard IEEE-30 bus test system.

A comprehensive series of studies were conducted on the Iraqi 400kV power grid implementing the above mentioned methods.

These include the year 2010 generation and loading profiles, a geographically uniform and non-uniform generation and load increase and slight decrease scenarios.

The results show adequacy of the above mentioned methods to estimate the contribution of generating sites to loads and flows.

The results also show the better result interpretation in the downstream and upstream methods, compared to the proportionality method.
