الملخص الإنجليزي

The main objective of this research is to determine the most critical factors effecting welding processes in pipelines through proposing a quality management plan that aims to reduce weاding defects to the minimum, to achieve this aim, a database of DISI-Water Conveyance System Project for non-destructive inspections records of butt weld were collected in order to apply statistical process control tools (SPC), and statistical analysis to provide a permanent control for the welding process. Ishikawa diagram was used to find the root causes through analysis for main causes.

After that by using Pareto chart vital welding defects were determined and then control chart used to monitor the process in order to reduce the vital. During the statistical work appears that there is a lack in data’ documentati on and a lack of welders’ training as well as there is no clearly program of quality assurance adopted by construction companies therefore, companies must turn its attention to three main axes (quality assurance, documentation and wel der’ training) to reduce the financial losses resulting from welding inspections and to improve level of quality of the welding process by reducing factors that causing welding failure.
