The aim of this article is to suggest an empirical evaluation of Morocco’s attractivity for the foreign capital.
This evaluation is called “absolute attractivity / country ex post”.
The estimate is carried out in panel data during the period 1990 to 2004.
Our approach is founded on the performance of firms with foreign participation and explains, generally, Morocco’s attractivity for the foreign capital.
Our results underline the solid significant effect of unit labor cost on the foreign capital invested in sector with weak technology.
However, we note that quality of labor attracts firms with foreign participation which invest in sector with high technology.
We also show that industrial density attracts implantation of new investors.
Finally, we confirm that Morocco is an attractive platform for the foreign exporters.
الملخص FRE
Le but de cet article est de proposer une évaluation empirique de l’attractivité du Maroc pour le capital étranger.
Cette valuation est intitulée attractivité/ pays ex post absolue.
L’estimation est effectuée en données de panel et porte sur la période 990-2004.
Notre approche est fondée sur la performance des entreprises à participation étrangère (EAPE) et explique, d’une manière générale, l’attractivité du Maroc pour le capital étranger.
Nos résultats soulignent l’effet fortement significatif du coût unitaire du travail sur le capital étranger investi dans les secteurs à faible technologie.
Néanmoins, nous constatons qu’une main-d’oeuvre qualifiée attire les EAPE qui investissent dans les secteurs à haute technologie.
Nous montrons aussi que la densité industrielle attire l’implantation de nouveaux investisseurs.
Enfin, nous confirmons que le Maroc est une plateforme attractive pour les exportateurs étrangers.
