الملخص الإنجليزي

The study investigated the effect of using a computerized package on the EFL students' achievement in reading and writing.

As there was no reliable and validated computerized reading and writing package based on Intel for the ninth grade, the researcher redesigned the instructional reading and writing material to be computerized based on PETRA 5 Textbook, which is taught at schools in Jordan as a compulsory course.

The sample of the study consisted of 160 male and female students.

They were chosen purposefully from the ninth grade students of two schools in the Directorate of Aqaba.

These two schools were chosen because of the availability of the networked computer labs with EFL teachers who have received a certificate in International Computer Driving License (ICDL) and (Intel) courses.

Both groups of the study sat for a pretest and posttest to answer the questions of the study.

The study attempted to find out any statistical significant differences due to the method of teaching and gender on students' achievement in reading and writing skills.

The study also tried to find out a significant interaction between the method of teaching and gender on students' achievement in reading and writing.

Furthermore, the study tried to find out significant differences in the students ’attitudes towards reading and writing.

The findings of the study revealed significant differences on the students' achievement in both reading and writing skills in favor of the experimental group regardless of gender.

Moreover, the study revealed significant differences between the means of the students' attitudes on reading and writing due to the method variable in favor of the computerized package method.
