This paper demonstrates that Institutional Evaluation in Higher Education is a prerequisite for Quality Assurance and an achievement to a better performance in the institutional mission; mainly teaching and learning.

The arguments described in this paper are highly inspired by the two Institutional Evaluation Programs conducted by the expertise of the European University Association (EUA); the first was completed by the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (Lebanon) in 2009 and the second by the Istanbul University (Turkey) in 2010.

This paper is divided to three main parts.

The first part of this paper describes what institutional evaluation is and also what it is not? In the second part, some practical aspects that help to lead a successful institutional evaluation are presented, and in the third part, some of the commonly observed challenges in different institutions are explained.
