During the last ten years colleges and universities witnessed an increasing interest in different world university rankings, and reform programs to improve the rankings of different universities.

Those establishments consider university rankings as scores for their reputation.

University reputation determines the quality of your students, instructors, research, grants and donors, and public support.

Governments in a number of developing countries develop a number of initiatives to build world-class universities, and to improve the rank of their universities within well known university rankings.

This paper examines the interest of different universities in the Arab world in well known university Rankings, and their strategic plans to develop initiatives to build world-class universities especially in Jordan, Gulf states and Saudi Arabia.

Also this study tries to discover what's cause Arab universities lagging behind in the World Class University Rankings?, and the need to establish strategic plans to participate in academic ranking of Worldwide Universities.
