This study was done on 3290 children (of both sexes) in the preparatory level of education in Zagazig City, and their ages ranged from 11-15 years.

Eighty cases with knee joint disorders were selected, 40 were males and 40 females.

It was concluded that the general percentage of affection by knee joint disorder among the preparatory children was 2.43%, most of the student disorders were appeared at the age of puberty, i.e in the second decade.

It was dominate among boys of age from 11-0 13 years and in girls of age from 14-15 years, no significant difference between sexes as regards to the affection by the different knee joint disorders.

The high incidence of affection by knee joint disorders was in group A (inflammatory), where 53 cases were recorded (66.25%), followed by the mechanical disorders (13.75%), blood disease (6.25%), structural disease (6.25%), tumours (5%), and lastly psychogenic rheumatism (2.5%).

In the inflammatory group, the incidence of rheumatic fever was too high (50%), followed by the juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (6.25%), septic arthritis (6.25%), and lastly uncommon cases such as prepatellar abscess (2.5%) and systemic lupus erythematous (1.25%).

The girls were more affected than boys by rheumatic fever (by ratio 7 : 3 respectively), by juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (3 : 2 respectively), and by structural disease (3 : 2 respectively).

While boys were more affected than girls by septic arthritis (4 : 1 respectively) and tumors (3 : 1 respectively).

Neither systemic lupus erythematous nor psychogenic rheumatism were detected in the studied boys while no girls complained by mechanical disorders or haemophilia.

High percentage of affected children (56.25%) does not any game.
