Ectopic pregnancy is an increasing health risk for women throughout the world.

Recent advances in meas¬urements of serum quantitative beta human chorionic gonadotropins (beta hCG) and transvaginal ultrasonogra¬phy have made it possible to diagnose ectopic pregnancy early and without laparoscopy.

These developments have provided the circumstances for trials using methotrexate as a non-surgical treatment of ectopic pregnancy.

This article reviews the incidence of ectopic pregnancy and the different methods for the management of ectopic pregnancy in Qatar during 1997.
