Microalbuminuria in rheums toid arthritis

Microalbuminuria as a method for detection of early subclinical renal dysfunction was tested for in 30 rheumatoid arthritis patients & JO healthy persons, using the immunochemical semiquantitative method, Micral lest strips.

Positive results were present in (26.7%) of patients & in non of the controls.

The study found microalbuminuria to have a highly significant correlation with extra-articular manifestations, a significant correlation with disease activity, a non-significant correlation with drug therapy.

The study concluded the frequent presence of subclinical renal dysfunction in R.A.

patients and recommended the testing for micro-albuminuria to be used routinely in R.A.

patients.
