Prevalence of hepatitis B surface antigen at al bait university

To determine the prevalence of Hepatitis B Surface Antigen amongst students at Al-Bait University, a new intake of1254 students was screened for HBsAg using hae-magglutination and ELISA tests.

The prevalence was found to be 3.8% with a significant difference between Jordanian and foreign students.

Despite this low prevalence it was concluded that preventive measures should be considered.
