الملخص EN

Laparoscopic treatment of perforated peptic ulcer is gaining increasing acceptance since its first report in 1989.

From December 1995 to February 1998 lapascopic omental patch repair followed by the use of Ft,- antagonists and triple therapy was used successfully on twenty seven male patients with perforated duodenal ulcers.

The mean operative time was 75 minutes & the mean hospital stay was 6.6 days.

There were no serious post-operative complications and no deaths and after a mean period of 6 months, no ulcer recurrence was detected.

It is suggested that, coupled with the use of H2 receptor antagonists and triple therapy, laparoscopic treatment has advantages over open surgery by reducing wound trauma and post-operative pain and discomfort and allowing early recovery.
