Diabetic diarrhoea in sudanese patients

The possibility of diabetic diarrhea occurring amongst 854 diabetic patients attending the weekly clinic in Medani Diabetic Center, Sudan was investigated in the period February 1996 to April 1998.

Seven patients had intermittent watery diarrhea, with prolonged and uncontrolled diabetes and established neuropathy.

Other causes, especially tropical infections were excluded.

Diabetic diarrhea like other (classical) complications of diabetes can occur and should be considered in diabetics with chronic diarrhea.
