الملخص EN

Necrotising enterocolitis(NEC) is a major life threat-ening disease in neonatalا/اا/'،/اا'ر’،' care units.

The opti-mal surgical treatment is controversial and varies between centers.

Although percutaneous peritoneal drainage (PPD) is described in the management of some patients, it is not used for all patients with NEC.

Between 1988 and 1992 PPD was used in a group o/patients with NEC regardless ofage, weight or general condition.

Eight (44%) survived.

As this figure is /ا'،'،ااء- than that reported by others who operated on some of their patients, we have since used PPD very selectively.

١١،' conclude that PPD, although a useful ٠٠؛/ in the armamentarium of pediatric surgeons, cannot be relied upon solely in the surgical management of patients with NEC.
