الملخص العربي
تقارن هذه الدراسة بین حذف الفعل في اللغة العربیة و اللغة الإنجلیزیة.
و تحاول إثبات أن عملیة الحذف عملیة منضبة بشروط و قواعد محددة في كلا اللغتین.
و بالرغم من اختلاف اللغتین عن بعضهما من حیث علم النحو و الصرف و المعاني إلا أن هذه الدراسة تقترح وجود صفات مشتركة تتعلق بقواعد حذف الفعل.
المنهج المتبع في هذه الدراسة هو المنهج الوصفي التحلیلي حیث سیتم تحلیل الجمل نحویا بناء على (the Minimalist Program) و من ثم مقارنتها.
و عند مقارنة حذف الفعل بین اللغتین تظهر الدراسة أن عملیة الحذف لیست عشوائیة و إنما هناك قواعد تضبطها و یجب اتباعها.
و تكشف وجود تشابه كبیر بین قواعد حذف الفعل في اللغة العربية و الإنجلیزیة من حیث الشروط، المواقع، الأنواع و الدلائل اللغویة و غیر اللغویة.
كما یتبین وجود اختلافات تعود إلى الفوارق النحویة و الصرفیة بین اللغتین.
الملخص الإنجليزي
This study compares verb ellipsis in both Arabic and English.
It attempts to prove that ellipsis is a principled process that is well organized by a set of rules and is a subject to specific constraints in both languages.
Arabic and English have many differences related to their morphology syntax semantics among others.
Nevertheless, the study suggests that they have some features in common when it comes to verb ellipsis.
The methodology followed in this study is descriptive and analytical.
The Minimalist Approach will be used to represent the syntactic analysis of sentences to compare them.
The study reveals that ellipsis is a systematic process in both languages.
Arabic and English verb ellipsis have shown a high degree of similarity with respect to the conditions, the sites, the types, and the linguistic and nonlinguistic cues that indicate ellipsis.
It also shows that there exists some parametric variations attributed in most cases to the syntactic and morphological differences between the two languages.
