Dielectronic recombination (DR) cross sections and rate coefficients are calculated for B-like Ar13+ and Fe21+ with Is, 2s and 2 p shell excitations (Δn ‡0) and for A18+ and Kr31+ with 2p-shell excitation.

The calculations are carried out in the isolated resonance approximation using the angular momentum average scheme.

The DR rate coefficients of Ar13+ are found to be in good agreement with those predicted using a new empirical formula [4].

The DR rate coefficients for B-like ions with Δn ‡0 excitations peak around the nuclear core charge z c = 26, which is drastically different from those with intra-shell (Δn =0) excitations [6].

The peak for the latter case occurs at Zc- 10-12.
