Cichorium intybus belongs to the family Asteraceae .
Cichorium intybus ethanolic extract contains carbohydrate , tannins , resin , saponins , alkaloids and flavonoids as active constituents .
LD50 of ethanolic extract of Cichorium intybus orally administration in mice was 8700mg / kg .
