الملخص الإنجليزي

Studying Moroccan women's response to the magazine Femmes du Maroc (FDM) has revealed that while some women do hold a favorable opinion, others dismiss it as just another means to convey unrealistic representations of Moroccan women.

By advertising an important number of beauty care products that represent only glamorous young women but are aimed at all women, the magazine invites criticism on a number of issues, namely that of promoting elitist anti-feminist attitudes and confirming the widely held belief that women have no care but their physical appearance- By advertising detergents and child care products, FDM firmly establishes women as housewives and confines their responsibility to childcare and other home related chores.

The written articles published by the magazine revealed mixed reactions.

Because they discuss social and feminist issues, these articles serve the interest of women as a group.

Yet, because the articles are edited in French, women who know only Arabic do not have access to them.

Curiously enough, Femmes du Maroc—which is supposed to enhance women's involvement in politics—excludes political issues unless they bear a direct relation to Moroccan women.

Thus, FDM maintains the belief that politics is a strictly male sphere and hinders women's emancipation Believing that an absolute democracy of representation is hard to achieve, 1 made several suggestions to allow the inclusion of a wider range of women inside FDM
