الملخص الإنجليزي

Films and the public appear to be directly related.

For a film to have ail audience (a sine qua non condition for its existence), it has to satisfy expectations.

Since its official existence in the late 1960s, and during the following two decades, Moroccan cinema had remained largely outside the interest of the public.

From the early 1990s on, some movies have reactivated audience interest in national cinema.

Apart from the latter experiences, audience motivations and preferences have long been overlooked The present research concentrates on three main objectives.

First, it aims at measuring the preferences and demands of the audience.

A second concern of the study lies in diagnosing audience’s rising interest in local films.

Ultimately, the project attempts to find a middle ground between the spectator’s desires and the filmmaker’s conception of the cinema.

It is my intention, therefore, to investigate ways in which a possible rœonciliation between the audience and Moroccan cinema can be achieved.

By measuring statistically and analyzing audience preferences, habits of frequent attendance, factors determining choice, and attitudes towards Moroccan movies, the present study can provide filmmakers with usefol marketing information for selecting the categories of content that will be distributed to the audience.

As a method of data collection, 1 conducted a survey in the city ofMeknes.

The relationship between the styles of Moroccan movies and the aspirations of the moviegoers reveal some points ofcontradiction between the two Good quality entertaining cinema can lead to the audience’s reconciliation with local film.
