الملخص الإنجليزي

“Street Children” are young people who find themselves living and struggling for survival in the streets.

This Culminating Project seeks to examine some of the underlying reasons for children fleeing families to go into the streets and/or for their expulsion by their families.

The project focuses on the attempts by a Non-Governmental Organization, the BAYTI (my home) association , to help “street children”.

BAYTI’s mission has to do with family reintegration, educational and socioprofessional socialization of “street children”, working children, sexually abused children, abandoned children, and delinquent children.

To accomplish its mission, BAYTI relies on the implementation of two main programs: the street program and the refuge program.

This Culminating Project identifies some of the methods of socialization adopted by BAYTI association in order to reintegrate “street children” into Moroccan society.

The information is provided mostly by officials of BAYTI, and the effectiveness of these are measured by a group of interviewed “street children”.

To a significant extent, the project records the stories of some of these children in their own words.

In this study, I have attempted to make recommendations that may serve to address the issue of children in the streets of Morocco generally in the hope that they could make a difference to the well being of the nation itself.

The issues are as pressing as they are wide-ranging, but it would be to the detriment of all if they were not dealt with immediately.
