As a continuation of the UNESCO program on “University and Heritage”, the present study sheds light on the perception of the Moroccan university students with respect to cultural heritage.

In other words, the study aims at diagnosing the degree of awareness among university students with regards to the issue of cultural heritage in order to assess the degree of their aptitude to protect and develop heritage.

Students' perception about heritage, how they define it, and how they see its relationship to many components of the surrounding environment are the themes this study aims at exploring.

To specify, the objective of the study is to know whether university students understand what cultural heritage is, its importance, its utility, its relationship to development, to identity, to tourism and to technological progress.

The recommendations at the end of the study deals with some suggestions students have about the academic measures that should be taken for the purpose of consolidating and developing their perception of cultural heritage, and their relationship and interaction with it.

The results show that there are some students in possession of a correct understanding of both heritage and the new changes affecting today’s world.

These students, though their perception needs consolidation, are better qualified to be future guardians and promoters of cultural heritage than their counterparts, whose
