الملخص الإنجليزي

The studied was included of collection of acarine fauna of soil in a small land in Baghdad University campus in Al-Jadirya over a period December 2009 to November 2010.

The samples were collected from a relatively small area located between the building collage of engineering and the building of Biology department.

The soil texture was clay loamy with 0.81 percent of organic matter with 7.9pH.

The acarine fauna of the soil were extracted with a heat desiccation method of extraction based on the Tullgren funnel.

The air temperatures, relative humidity, soil moisture, soil pH and organic matter contents were recorded and taken in consideration.

A new record of five genera for Iraq named (Malloconthrius sp., Chaetodactylus sp., Myonyssus sp., Notaspis sp., Hydrogamasus sp.) and one species named Eupelops plicatus out of thirty mite groups which isolated from the soil.

The mean population density of mites in the soil was 5948.33 individuals per m² over a period of 12 moths (December 2009-November 2010).

The mean index of diversity (α) in the soil was the highest in October 2010 while the lowest was recorded in September 2010.

II The acari fauna accounted during the present study formed 81.1% Cryptostigmata, 12.0 % Mesostigmata, 6.3 % prostigmata and the 1.5 % Astigmata from the total acari fauna.

3 species were recorded as dominants.

While the frequency of these species was ranged between 31.2% to 82.2 %, the dominant species comprised 2 species of Cryptostigmata named (Ceratozetes gracilis, Perlohmania dissimilis) and one species of prostigmata named (Bdella iconica).

The dominance of these species varied from 66.0 % to 6.10 %.

The species Macrocheles medarius was bred on all development stages of Tyrophagus putrescentiae as alternative food in the laboratory.

The life cycle of M.

medarius egg to adults had a mean duration period of 246.3 hours for female and 141 hours for
