present work is devoted to add polymers to some of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for reducing the acidity of these drugs as well as preparing for new derivative of aspirin.

The first part of the present work includes the addition of poly (vinyl alcohol) and poly (vinyl chloride-co-vinyl acetate) to some of NSAIDs (Aspirin, Indomethacin, Mefenamic acid, and Naproxen).

This preparation was achieved by two steps.

The first step includes conversion of aspirin to its acid chloride.

The second step includes reaction of the prepared acid chloride first with the poly (vinyl alcohol) in basic media at low temperature (1-5) ˚C, and second with the copolymer poly (vinyl chloride-co-vinyl acetate) in basic media (as in scheme 1).

The same method was done with indomethacin (as in scheme 2), mefenamic acid (as in scheme 3), and naproxen (as in scheme 4).

In the second part, the new derivative of aspirin was prepared from salicylic acid and then the resulting compound was reacted with poly (vinyl alcohol) in basic media at low temperature (1-5) ˚C (as in scheme 5).

The prepared compounds were studied and diagnosed by FT-IR spectra and 1H-NMR spectra (for three compounds) and by studying the physical properties such as softening (or melting) points, solubility and color.
