The objective of this descriptive study is to shed light on the experience of higher education institutions1 in Sudan in their quest to ensure the quality of outputs.

This is carried out through highlighting the concerning of the higher education system since its inception to assure the quality of outputs.

Starting with the fact that Sudanese universities since their establishing applied approaches to assure the quality of outputs through the critical selection of inputs according to rigorous academic regulations.

The study reviews the establishment of the Evaluation and Accreditation Corporation (EVAC) in higher education in Sudan, through its vision, mission, and its rationale and through its efforts toward adopting the quality principle as a stage in assuring the quality of higher education outputs.

The study highlights the EVAC's efforts in the preparation and adoption of national standards to assure the quality of higher education in Sudan, and by refereeing to the importance, objectives, fields and themes of quality assurance standards.

This involved what has been built of the rationale and criteria for each of these areas, in addition to the indicators used to measure the good practices in each area, and the evidence required to verify the veracity of the data that are obtained.

The study concludes that the standards adopted focused on both the areas of institutional framework and learning as the most important indicators of the quality assurance of higher education institutions.

The study concludes that the criteria that have been formulated have not yet found a way to be applied in any institution of higher education in Sudan.
