الملخص الإنجليزي

This thesis is a brief exposition to orthogonality in an inner product space and its development as well as studying this property in an normed linear space and using it to define a scalar product in a normed space.

Also the thesis is concerned with using a kind of orthogonal functions in some function spaces, namely eigen functions corresponding to distinct eigenvalues for the Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problem and how are used to represent the solution for some types of boundary value problems, in particular, regular S-L boundary value problems
