الملخص الإنجليزي
The main concern in the present research work is to define the basic requirements for establishing a real-time video tracking system, and to design and perform a prototype tracking system.
The necessary analysis tools have been developed and used to assess the required specifications of the system elements.
The established prototype can instantaneously detect many flying object and track the interesting (selected) one in a real video scene using live video frames captured from an optical video camera.
The system developed in this research mainly depends on the periodic digital capturing of the real-video signal send from the video camera.
The captured frames are repeatedly analyzed using a set of digital image processing methods to determine the geometrical features of the detected object's segments.
All false targets and noise patches are filtered out, and this task is performed by applying criterion that depends on the extracted target's features.
In the final stage of the tracking process the target position deflections are calculated, and these results used to determine the control commands, which are issued and send to the controller of the used A.C.
motor to keep the optical device looking toward the tracked object in smooth way.
The real time image processing tasks, determine the position of flying object(s) in terms of image coordinates, and then calculating their shift from the image center, this shift is mapped to a suitable command directed to the motorized pan-tilt gimbal to keep following the flying tracked object (target).
The deflection-commands mapping relationship is based on the linear proportion model.
The conducted simulation gives very important information about the suitable ranges of values of various system parameters (including: object size, view angels, and ranges).
To test the efficiency of the developed tracking system, a set of indoor and outdoor experiments were performed.
The results of these real experiments reflected a successful capability of tracking different flying objects, when the frame rate is taken 5 captured frames per second.
All the programs in the framework of the present study, have been developed using Visual Basic, and some of control software was written in C language.
The simulation, analysis and test tasks have been conducted using P3 and P4 IBM compatible computers.
