الملخص الإنجليزي

In this work, dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet system was developed.

This system was used to produce a non-thermal plasma jet at atmospheric pressure.

The experimental set up is based on very simple , low cost electric components, and generates an electrical field sufficiently high at the electrodes to ionize various gases, which flow at atmospheric pressure.

The major part of the work was directed toward the development of a non-equilibrium atmospheric pressure plasma torch by use of two electrodes configuration, the linear-field configuration and cross–filed configuration.

The working gas Argon (Ar) was supplied to flow through the torch with adjustable flow rate using flow meter regulator.

In all cases of configuration the high voltage power supply generates high voltage of sinusoidal shape of 7.5 kV peak to peak and frequency of 28 kHz.

The characteristics of the system, electrical, optical and thermal properties have been studied .The discharge was characterized by measuring current and voltage.

The optical characterization was made using taking the spectrum of discharge using optical emission spectrometer.

The thermal characterization was made using measuring the Argon gas temperature at different gas flow rate and distances from the torch exit.

Also the effects of the gas flow rate on plasma jet length has been studied when the electron temperature for the two electrodes configuration was identified spectrally, its value is about 1.75eV.

II This work also included the developed system field of plasma polymerization, where polyaniline thin films deposited using the nonequilibrium atmospheric pressure plasma torch.

Applications of the torch have been realized to deposit of organic aniline thin films.

The polyaniline obtained by plasma polymerization at atmospheric pressure found to be chemically and spectroscopically similar to that of conventional poly aniline.

The synthesized polyaniline were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray Diffraction and atomic force microscope (AFM).

The FTIR spectra shows some interesting peaks around at 3445, 2981.88, 1492.314, 1292.90, and 1125.68 cm-1.

These values are characteristic of polyaniline chain and are in agreement with theoretical predictions.

The prepared thin films show light green colors that indicate the films belong to the emeraldine base polyaniline form.

The X-ray Diffraction show abroad amorphous scattering peak at about 2θ = 25.۱٥о which is a characteristic peak of PANI.

The AFM images show that the surface of the PANI thin films consist of grains with an average grain size about 100 nm.

As well as some of the electrical and optical properties of the prepared thin films have been identified.

These properties revealed the conductivity of the PANI thin films at room temperature which are nearly 0.68×10-4 S.cm-1 and the band gap with range of 2.2 - 2.7 eV depending on prepared conditions.

This inexpensive process friendly for environment affords a new technique in the field of conducting polymers for coating large substrate areas.
