الملخص الإنجليزي

The rotation dynamics of spiral galaxy is modeled using two kinds of mass distributions.

One with constant density, and other with radial distributions.

These two distributions were applied for two types of galaxy.

The first is spherical and the second is oblate ellipsoids.

The gravitational field outside a spherical shell is acting as if the mass of the shell were concentrated at its center.

Since the mass outside the radius ?? does not have any gravitational effect and the rotational velocity ?? is independent of ??, one must have ??(??) ∝ ??.

This conclusion does not agreed with the visible mass distributions of galaxies, which instead show a mass density that drops exponentially as a function of the radius.

At the same time the calculated velocity distribution inside the galaxy is similar to that obtained from astronomical observations.

To investigate the density wave theory of spiral galaxies, we studied the behavior of surface mass distribution (??), Radial velocity (??) and tangential velocity (??) numerically by using Lax method to give results that matches the real astronomical observations.

We have carried out real observation of spiral galaxies NGC 4448 and NGC 3359 using the 1.88 m optical telescope of Kottamia Astronomical Observatory, KAO, Egypt.

From the observations, the surface brightness profiles, Ellipticity profiles, position angle profiles and color indices profiles are described and studied.

The eastern part of the galaxy NGC 4448 is brighter than the western part.

This is attributed to the magnitude difference between the two.

The difference is about (0.94 mag/arcsec2) this may indicate that there are young stars in the brighter part of the galaxy
