Productivity of acacia saligna and natural vegetation as affected by locations and ages at al- Goura Area (North Sinai)‎

this investigation was carried out to study the effect of Acacia saligna shrubs age i.e.

two, four and six years old and area without Acacia shrubs, three different sites at Al-Goura location on development and improvement of some native plant species during the period extended from autumn 2006 up to spring 2008 seasons Results indicated that pasture measurements of native plant species i.e., plant density (plant/m2) and plant coverage (%) decreased with increasing shrubs age and vice versa for abundance % and frequency %.

Also, the fresh and dry yields were significantly decreased with increasing the shrubs age.

Acacia shrubs yields increased by advancing age.

Meanwhile total fresh and dry yields of both Acacia shrubs and native plants together were increased under Acacia six years old.

Spring season was superior in its productivity for natural vegetation.

Site one was the best site to produce the highest fresh and dry yields for both Acacia shrubs or natural plant species.
