الملخص EN

An inactivated and a live attenuated bovine ephemeral fever (BEF) locally produced vaccines were exposed to different temperatures for different periods.

The ability of the inactivated vaccine to generate neutralizing antibodies in vaccinated cattle and hamster was evaluated.

The virus neutralization test showed that such vaccine was able to induce virus-neutralizing antibodies in vaccinated cattle and hamsters up to 12, 9 and 1 months post preservation at 4,25 and 37oC respectively.

On the other hand, the titration of live attenuated lyophilized vaccine revealed that the virus vaccine could survive without any loss in its infectivity titer up to 1 month at 0 and 4oC and up to 12 and 18 months at -20 and -70oC respectively, then began to decline very slowly, and lost its infectivity titer completely after 3 and 72 hours and 1 week at 56, 37 and 25oC respectively.

So, it is clear that the best preservation temperature is 4oC for the inactivated vaccine and -70oC for the live attenuated vaccine.
