الملخص الإنجليزي

Does dividend policy depend on agency regimes? Does dividend affect the performance of less transparent firms? This paper tries to answer these questions by testing the relationship between firm performance and dividend policy under agency and transparency regimes.

Prior literature argues that dividend policy has an important role as a signaling device for corporate governance.

Tests on a sample of firms in eight countries in MENA region show a positive relationship between firm performance and dividend policy for both firms with high agency conflicts and opaque firms
