الملخص الإنجليزي

The role of Information Technologies (IT) in any today’s organization or business has become tremendous and crucial to their survival in this age of information heroism.

Despite the great role it plays, at supporting, enhancing, and bringing innovation to the business, IT has been known to be the least understood element of the business by the business.

Challenges like making the IT unit of the business work in line with the enterprise goals and objectives, understanding, perceiving, experiencing, measuring, and evaluating the value IT brings to the business, and managing IT affairs in an effective, efficient, value generating manner have been the concern of many IT managers and specialists.

With the rapidly changing role of IT and with the business becoming more and more reliant and reliable on its services, new paradigms, in the form of pragmatic frameworks and models, have been developed from experience and best practices in the domain of managing IT organizations from a service provider perspective.

In this work we first explore the role IT plays in the business and goes through a review of onthe- surface models and frameworks of best practices in the management of IT.

We then concentrate on the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) as a framework to implement at the Information Technology Services (ITS) department at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI).

This mapping of ITIL and ITS is carried out with the aim of making ITS achieve its objectives stated in its vision statement.

After studying both ITIL and ITS closely, we suggest a scope of adoption of the framework tailored to the nature and needs of ITS, and we trace a suggested roadmap for ITS to take in order to become ITIL compliant and acquire the benefits the framework promises.

The last part of the work suggests a tentative plan for the adoption program, produces the necessary documents to launch the first projects in the program, and provides two process implementation samples: the Catalog Management Process and the Portfolio Management Process.
