The rainfall intensity curves is important to give rainfall intensity estimates appropriate to the duration and return in the absence of actual measurements of rainfall intensity at the rainfall stations or the meteorology stations .

These curves are considered one of the most important steps in the design of floods and torrents drainage networks in urban areas and cities.

The Intensity-duration-frequency curves can be designed by mathematical models related to the duration and the return period of rain storm.

Two methods of frequency distribution will be using to derive models estimating rainfall intensity , the Extreme Value type 1 (EV1 or) known as model (Gumbel method) and the log Person type 3 method .

This study addresses the development of mathematical models for design of the IDF curves in four regions in Saudi Arabia , Abha , Bisha , Sakaka and Medina Mounwwarah.

The Gumbel and log Person type 3 methods are applied to analysis and design the IDF curves of the durations 10, 20, 30 minutes and 1, 2, 3, 6 , 12 hours for the rainfall maximum intensity recorded during each year of the study period in each station, in order to derive the statistical parameters appropriated to each method and define a particularly model to estimate rainfall intensity in the absence of actual measurements.
