Alternative discourse on the study of culture

This article presents a different view of the concept of culture as studied by contemporary anthropology and sociology.

It proposes an alternative discourse on culture based on the author’s personal analysis and discovery of the nature of culture as well as the Islamic outlook.

It makes explicit and implicit criticism of the study of culture by today’s social sciences and shows how the alternative approach helps promote the credibility of social scientists’ understanding of the complex concept of culture.

As such, it is legitimate for Third World social scientists to question their continuing dependency on modern social sciences.

This could lead to the development of new compatible concepts and theories with the realities of developing societies.

and Consequently this may create a shift by which social sciences in the North would be keen to learn from the social sciences of the South.
