الملخص الإنجليزي

Location Based Services (LBS) have gained important success over the last decade with the expansion of mobile devices.

LBS consist of different application services that exploit the geographic information of a mobile terminal.

One of the most interesting fields having an increasing need of Location Based Services is fleet management.

Inefficient instantaneous location tracking methods combined with disorganized task assignment lead to time and cost waste for small businesses.

This project presents an event-based software solution for tracking mobile targets especially with routes that are not predefined, and predicting their future trajectory to enhance the LBS in general and task allocation in particular.

The first objective of the event-based location tracking and prediction system is to ensure a maximum availability of the tracking.

This is achieved via an event-based energy consumption strategy which can be deployed in the mobile device.

The strategy consists of involving the appropriate hardware of the mobile device in the process compromising the necessity and the power consumption.

The second objective of the system is to provide a real time dashboard for the business manager to get the locations of the moving targets, see their past and future trajectories, and be able to communicate with them through text messaging.

This can improve the work dispatching.

The system involves the manager in analyzing the past behavior of a target, and eventually selects the fittest method to be applied for the prediction.

This is due to factors such as insufficient amount of data necessary to capture the mobility patterns, and lack of prior knowledge about the process and measurement noise dispersion.

As a proof of concept, we propose a generic prototype that can be adapted to many small to medium size fleet management businesses in Morocco.

We believe that it requires the cheapest hardware in the market and a minimum effort for the customization.
