User needs assessment for the project OACIS (Online Access to Consolidated Information on Serials)‎ : usability study

The study explains the status of OACIS system (Online Access to Consolidated Information on Serials) at Yale University.

The study investigates user needs assessment by using a usability test to measure the OACIS system for design, navigation, and retrieval.

The test was administered to five international users speaking different languages (English, Arabic, French, German, and Spanish).The strengths and weakness in the OACIS system database as a free bibliographic database will reflect the diversity of users from around the world.

The researcher’s aim is to explain the students’ viewpoint to evaluate the OACIS system to save time and cost for the libraries and users by using an (ILL) interlibrary loan system between the libraries.The evaluation results will give the researcher and then the people in Yale University the chance to improve the OACIS system by getting suggestions from users.
