الملخص الإنجليزي

Many students of Mu'tah University rely heavily on using electronic sites to translate documents required in their majors which contain prepositions.

However, they are not aware of the challenges that such sites face when translating prepositions in particular.

This study is conducted to investigate the challenge of specifying the Arabic meaning of the English prepositions using technology.

If an electronic site doesn’t translate a preposition to its specific meaning, the whole meaning of a sentence will be affected, and this in turn will affect the students' work, understanding and academic score.

To investigate this challenge, awell-designed questionnaire is developed to state the popular sites used by the students.

An electronic testis alsomade for the stated electronic sites by the questionnaire.

The test consists of 25 English sentences which contain English prepositions to be inserted and examined.furthermore, prepositions in this study are classified into five classifications;(Prepositionsfollowed by NPs, preposition precededby verbs, phrasal verbs with two words, phrasal verbs with three words and prepositions as answersof questions).

It should also be pointed out here that the electronic sites that are popular and used by the students are Google, Al-Wafi, Bing, and Free Online.

After conducting this study, the results state clearly and evidently that all the selected popular sites face and cannot solve the problem of specifying the Arabic meaning of the English prepositions, so the study recommends that students should not perfectly rely on using electronic sites to translate documents containing prepositions.
