Bacteriological quality of crab and fish from aby lagoon (cote d’ivoire)‎

This study is conducted to evaluate the level of bacteriological contamination of water, sediments, fish (Tilapia guineensis) and crabs (Callinectes amnicola) of the Aby Lagoon.

Thus, counts of fecal indicators (fecal coliforms and enterococci) was performed by the technique of membrane filtration and bacteria counts in the samples of crabs and fishes by conventional bacteriological methods.

From this study, It appears that the sediment samples were more contaminated than water samples and crab (Callinectes amnicola) samples more contaminated than fish (Tilapia guineensis) samples.

The crabs could be considered as a reservoir of pathogenic outbreak linked to fishery products.
