This study was aimed to detect Staphylococcus epidermidis isolates obtained from skin related infection for their phenotypic and molecular markers of virulence and to investigate which of these markers can be used to differentiate the pathogenic S.

epidermidis from the commensals.

Various strains of S.

epidermidis are capable of forming biofilms and it is found to be associated with many hospital-acquired infections.

In this research, 14 S.

epidermidis isolates able to biofilm forming, among different clinical specimens , in relation to the ica ADBC gene cluster.

The results showed that only 14/50 isolates (28%) produced detectable biofilm, and icaA,D gene was detected in these isolates.
