الملخص الإنجليزي
The present study offers a critical analysis of post-colonial feminism in Tayeb Salih's Season of Migration to the North (1969) and Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart (1958).
It examines the status of colonized women in relation to customs, tradition, and race.
The female character, Mustafa Sa'eed's wife, in Tayeb Salih's Season of Migration to The North suffers from marginalization and exclusion by her father and brothers who choose a husband for her by force.
Even though the Sudanese male characters are colonized by the British, they do not consider the female Sudanese as equal partners.
Similarly, in Chinue Achebe's Things Fall Apart, the colonized African women suffer from double colonization: one is by the British colonizer and the other from the male African.
The study will be divided into four chapters.
The first chapter presents an introduction to define what postcolonial feminism is and an explication of theory of postcolonial feminism and racial discrimination in its analysis.
The second chapter discusses Tayeb Salih's Season of Migration to the North, focuses on the vast differences in customs, traditions and the dazzling difference between the East and West.
It will attempt to show how western colonization can influence women in a community.
The third chapter discusses Achebe's novel, Things Fall Apart, by highlighting the masculine stereotypical attitudes towards women.
As women aspire to have individual identities by getting rid of colonialism and old habits, men and western colonialism stand against them and oppose such rights for women.
The last chapter is a summary of discussions and conclusion.
