Bilateral relations between Iraq and Czech Republic had suffered from monotony, no exchanged visits had been made, especially from the Czech side, specially over the years that followed the changes that happened in Iraq after 2003.

Last year, the two sides were busy with parliamentary elections and the formation of the new government in both countries.

And the nature of the political parties, the Czech and the age of the democratic experiment may have played a positive role in reducing the time taken to form the Czech government, the ambiguity left by the delayed announcement of results of the Iraqi elections and negotiations on the formation has necessitated the members of the international community, including the Czech republic, to wait and see approach, pending clarification of the situation and stabilizing of the political situation.

Now, the Iraqi parliament has begun its work and the new government was formatted ,we have seen intensive efforts by both sides to develop relations and reflected through frequent visits and exchanges of senior officials to the capitals of Baghdad and Prague.
