الملخص EN

The three dimensions finite difference time domain method (3D-FDTD) is employed to calculate lightning return stoke current distributions in a vertical lightning channel.

The latter is excited at its bottom by a lumped current source above a flat perfectly conducting ground.

In this study four lightning return stroke electromagnetic models are used.

The calculating approach, which is based on Taflove formulation of the 3D-FDTD method combined to the UPML boundary conditions, is implemented on Matlab environment.

For validation needs, the obtained lightning return stroke space and time distributions are compared with others taken from specialized literature.
