Prohibition of Riba and its rationale : Riba and inflation

السؤال

Assalamu Alaikum my question is about interest (Riba). Suppose I give loan of some amount to someone, who returns the same amount of money in two years or more, now the amount I gave him has now depreciated in value, so in effect I am actually getting less money as compared to the money I gave him. Had I used that money in my business I would have got some profit. Does Islamic Shari’ah recognize this or this is a western way of thinking. Your answer will be greatly appreciated. Regards Asad
