The bootstrap methods in estimation : a review

This work is a review of the developments of Efron’s bootstrap method and its role in statistical estimation.

The emphasis is on the methodology, its versatility and extent rather than the mathematical analysis.

Basic ideas about the essence of the method and its validity and accuracy in estimating the sampling distribution or any accuracy measure of a statistic, in constructing confidence interval and in fitting regression models are conveyed through the frame work of statistical functionals.
