The Islamic economics for bankers course provides an elaboration on the Islamic worldview and how it links to the economic aspects of life.

This course aims to provide an understanding of Islamic economics and finance by considering the implications of the application of Shariah for economic and financial systems.

To connect Islam with economics, a discussion of relevant methodologies with Shariah as the base of all values, principles, norms and laws, will be followed by a comparative discussion on the important features of an Islamic economic system.

- Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to : -Explain the key milestones of the historical development in Islamic economic thought. -Discuss how Islam and its worldview permeates all aspects of economics. -Discuss the current standing of the world economy, international trade, and economic development, linking it with Islamic economics. -Discuss the factors of productions within the context of Islamic economics. -Identify the significant contributions of past Muslim scholars that are related to the area of Islamic economics and thought. -Identify the ideal features of an Islamic economic system and discuss its viability as an alternative to the interest based conventional financial system. -Distinguish and evaluate the differences between Islamic economics and its conventional counterpart, in terms of its worldview, methodology, and systems. -Illustrate and appreciate the need for having an Islamic economic system in order to achieve the Maqasid al-Shariah. -Discuss the socio-economic factors that have an impact on the development of Islamic finance.

This course is aimed at individuals seeking to gain a more in-depth understanding in the area of Islamic economics. It also useful for banking professionals seeking a refresher course on Islamic economic concepts.

-The course is conducted using a combination of lectures, discussions, case studies, and an end-of-course assessment. Students are also expected to complete an additional 6 hours of self-study. Note : this course is assessed.
